FAQ

All games have been tailored and adjusted to be age and developmentally appropriate for the group they are run in. The games themselves do have recommended ages, notably Magic: the Gathering is ages 13 and up. In order to keep it age appropriate, each card is curated based on theme and imagery.
Some families have different preferences and ideas of what is appropriate. Some may feel scary things like zombies and blood, or witchcraft and magic to be inappropriate. Beware that these themes do exist in much of the game play.
All our programming is adaptable, and we are willing to adjust our content where possible.

Our programs take into consideration age, development, and interest, which can sometimes result in a younger kid (6 years) in the same program as an older kid (12 years). This would only happen if the younger kid has reached a developmental level to be comfortable in similar game play, and if there was no group available for separate activity. In addition, discussions with families, and adjustments to expectations would be required.

We are very happy to include home school families. Depending on location and interest, home school groups can be made. The primary barrier is transportation, so if we can come to an arrangement, then it becomes easier to get everyone in. Home school families could be included in school groups as long as a transportation arrangement is made.

The groups are formed based on location, age, developmental level, availability, and interest. The group size is 6 to 10 participants. We coordinate with all the families to find the best schedule for everyone.

Don’t worry! Currently our programs operate out of the school your child attends. They can enter the program from dismissal or from after school care.
Future programs may operate out of other locations and would require parent transportation. This can occur in summer, on weekends, or special events.

There are pre planned actions to be taken during each type of emergency. Participants review the emergency procedures on the first day of program, and any time the venue changes. Guardians are contacted for pick up when an emergency does occur. Staff have up to date first aid certificates and coordinate with venue staff.

Let us know your kids needs or behavioral struggles and the staff will work with you to find the best way to include your child. Staff are experienced with special needs inclusion, and have worked with many children with emotional and attention difficulties. We do our best to include all children, but there are some limits to what we can accommodate.
To support these children we group with good role models, keep the programming to their interests, and provide many options to help them navigate the program. We provide “Side Quests” which include fidget toys, sensory toys, challenges, coloring, books, and building play. All participants can take breaks when they want to, and we have a health break part way through for everyone. We provide a small snack as well, which can help with focus.
